Continuing along the managed route parallel to the canal feeder through the rolling fields, before turning into an underused overgrown path. At this point the fascinating sight of a dense bee swarm was observed clutching precariously to an overhanging branch, merely six foot above the path.
About 18” in length, the swarming bees resting before seeking a new nest siteUpon viewing the bee swarm, it was felt that it would be a safer option to seek an alternative route. Backtracking to the established path, the group continued walking down to and under the M6, before crossing the footbridge and looping back under the motorway on to the lane leading to the small village of Cosford.
After moving through the village the group progressed through to the Cosford shooting ground passing the six wheel Saracen personnel carrier located opposite the club house.
Pausing to observe the armoured vehicleThe walk continued through the fields to the highest viewing point over Rugby of which the distant church spires and high rise buildings were observed. Descending down the side of the field, the walk leader Anne-Marie led us along the bridleway to the main street of the village before returning to enjoy the hospitality of the Crown. A lovely walk, on a very warm evening.
