Sunday 2nd April 2017, and Rugby Ramblers have arrived in Castleton. Our walk takes us across the fields, in the direction of the little village of Hope. After about thirty minutes we turn left and start the steep climb towards the summit of Lose Hill.
As we descend into Cave Dale we have completed a rewarding and sunny walk of a little over 8 miles.
The Rugby Ramblers go on a B walk led by Norman. Starting from Dunchurch the walk takes in the villages of Grandborough and Willougby. There is frost on the ground and a brisk, cold wind is blowing. As the day progresses the wind eases and we get an occasional glimpse of the sun.
We are joined for lunch by an escaped sheep who entertains us with his attempts to evade capture by the farmer.
An enjoyable walk of about 11 miles.
