Walks Information

Travel to the start of a walk is usually by private car. Members are encouraged to share cars to save petrol and ease parking problems. It is usually possible to arrange lifts from the meeting place for those without cars. It is customary to share petrol costs, we propose the rate of 30p per mile divided amongst all occupants provides a fair rate.

Lunch Arrangements

On all day (A, B) walks and C+ walks, walkers should bring a packed lunch and sufficient liquid refreshment, especially in hot weather. It is sometimes possible to call at a pub, but this is not guaranteed.

Walking boots are recommended. Always be prepared for bad weather, especially in the hills.

Walks are arranged for members of the Ramblers. Interested persons are very welcome to join the group as visitors for three walks, after which they are expected to join the Ramblers. Membership forms are available from the Secretary. If you pay Income Tax, Giftaiding your subscription will help the Ramblers - see details on the form. Social events and Group Weekends are normally limited to members & family only.

It is regretted that only Registered Assistance Dogs are permitted on group walks, due to problems with stiles, farm livestock and other dogs. If you wish to bring an assistance dog, please contact the walk leader beforehand to check for any difficulties with the route.

A small voluntary donation (A/B/C walks: 50p, D walks: 20p) is invited from all adult members of Rugby Group on each walk to help meet the cost of preparing walks.

Map Library

Maps and books of walks are available for members’ use from Diana Nurcombe, 80 York St, Rugby, CV21 2BS, Tel 576238. Please return promptly after use.

Whilst every care is taken by walk leaders, persons joining walks are reminded that they are responsible for their own safety at all times. Walkers should each carry a personal First Aid Kit. Please take special care if it is necessary to cross or walk along a road.

The Ramblers have issued guidance notes for Treating Injuries and Action at an Incident. You can download a copy of these notes here.

When walking with the Group, please make sure that those who are behind you are still following and have seen where you went at corners or path junctions, particularly in woods or villages.

If you need to stop you must inform another walker.
